Food Hunting in Malacca

Christ Church Melaka
Last weekend we were in Malacca for a short break. It was a sudden trip and everything was arranged in last minute. Earlier I have read about Malacca & thought we would get a chance to taste famous Nonya Food there. However three days were not enough to explore Malacca attractions. Here are few food pictures I could captured.

Dutch Harbour Café is one of the attractive places to dine in Malacca, situated by the river. It has outside dining space with river view, but it was a rainy evening. So we didn’t get a chance to dine outside. The restaurant looks old, but I loved the arrangement & its old style.

We tried Chicken Kapitan & Stir Fried Cabbage with plain rice. Food was tasty & even they served it faster within few minutes after ordering.

The meeting place 123 is the restaurant of Emperor hotel. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had breakfast there. The breakfast buffet was with different food choices. Some of the must try dishes are Famous Nasi Lemak & Roti Canai. It is worth for 18Ringit per head.

Their Fried Mee Mamak was delicious.

Nasi Lemak was served with Fried pea nuts & sambal tumis.

I loved eating Roti Canai with dhal.

Other than Malaysian authentic food, the buffet was included salads, porridge, fried sausages, sandwiches, bread pudding,Fresh fruits etc.

We tried some other dishes other than their breakfast buffet, for lunch & dinner.Chicken satay,Fried Fish with chips,Fried rice & tri-layer sandwiches are among them. Chicken satay was really heavy & even the portion of Fried fish is bigger. It is worth for the value.

However our idea was that they took more time to prepare the dish once we ordered. Therefore sometimes even I didn't feel capturing a picture once received food.

Below is a capture from the Fried rice.

Dataran Pahlawan Mega mall is the best shopping mall for us among all the shopping places.Inside the mall there are quite number of food stalls. It was really difficult to select food among different varieties. However we tried new dishes which we haven't tried before.

We tried Black pepper chicken rice and  Sweet & Sour Fish rice. Both were tasty.Black pepper chicken rice was bit spicy while other was bit sweet.

We didn't get much time to try different varieties as it was a short holiday.Even we were full with delicious food. However it was a relaxing weekend.

More interestingly, I found a Food Corner there.... :)

  1. The food looks delicious and your pictures are making my mouth water!!! I love Southeast Asian flavours and food. It's also quite similar to some Sri Lankan dishes (probably because Sri Lankan food has been influenced a lot by the Malays too). Thanks for the virtual tour. Enjoyed it a lot. Hope to visit Malacca one day. :)

    1. Thanks for the comment.yes, some dishes remind me about Sri Lankan food. That can be due to influence of Malay community in Sri Lanka.
